Fiberglass Deck Preparation

Site requirements for fiberglass deck coating installation:

3/4” CDX T/G Plywood glued and nailed over sound joists pitched at 1/4” per foot, under 1/4” per foot may result in standing water.

All areas of unfinished deck must be checked for proper pitch prior to scheduling

Sheathing to be clear of building paper siding and doors, all door openings must be fiberglass pan flashed to ensure a full waterproof application

Any fiberglass to masonry applications must be counter flashed after completion of the fiberglass deck coating

4x4 posts for rails to be lagged and secured prior to scheduling, lower 6” of post will be planed out for zero build up once fiberglass flashing is complete. 4x4 posts must be sleeved over to prevent water penetration

Metal structural stanchions must be installed with 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive for a proper seal

Plywood must be completely dry prior to our fiberglass deck coating installation, jobs will be postponed should weather be a factor

Working temps for proper curing of the fiberglass deck coating are between 45 and 85 degrees with relatively low humidity.
